SF Marketing & Lighthouse Technologies To Partner In Canada

Lighthouse Technologies Ltd. has announced the formation of a strategic partnership with SF Marketing (SFM) to distribute its LED video display solutions in Canada. Under the arrangement, SFM will be representing Lighthouse’s DuoLED products and working with Lighthouse on further developing the Canadian market for the VideoBlades series of products for staging and rentals and Impact products for fixed Installations.
“From our base of North American operations in the US, we feel that the Canadian market has been underserved when it comes to Lighthouse products,” says Joseph Lapchick, Senior Manager of Eastern Regional Rental Products at Lighthouse. “With SFM, we feel that we’ve found the right partner to give our industry-leading products the exposure in Canada that they fully deserve. SFM’s financial strength, considerable technical expertise, and reputation for providing dependable service were all major factors guiding our decision.”

Beat Set To Drop On 2012 CDJ Show

The 2012 Canadian DJ Show (CDJ Show), being held March 17-18, 2012 at the Doubletree by Hilton Toronto Airport, is ready for what’s expected to be its largest edition to date.
The show will feature a wide range of seminar topics from presenters including Adam K and Noah Pred (Witz Education), Ben Stowe (NLFX Professional), Nick Fiorucci (Hi-Bias Records), and Paul Sanderson (Sanderson Entertainment Law), among several others.
As with previous years, the CDJ Show will cater to both aspiring and seasoned professional DJs, with a balanced emphasis on new products and services in the industry and professional development through seminars, panels, training sessions, and Q&As with product specialists.
“DJing has become more than just the act of playing music for the masses; it has become a lifestyle for many people across the world,” says Ryan Schroeyens, CDJ Show Founder. In addition to the variety of DJs that attend the show, exhibitors cater to other nightlife industry professionals including nightclub and special event venue owners, promoters, agents, and mobile DJ companies. The producer’s element of the show further extends the target market by providing new products, information, and training for electronic and urban music producers.

Project Update
LUMI & Colorbeam Illuminate Houston Steaks & Ribs’ New Look

Houston Steaks & Ribs’ Lachenaie, QC location is the first to feature a new look created specifically by Nick D’Urbano of D’Urbano Design for the popular eatery’s ongoing national expansion. To achieve that look, St. Hubert-based sound and lighting consultants Le Groupe Spectre Sonore depended heavily on LUMI LED and Colorbeam lighting products.
Spectre Sonore chose LUMI and Colorbeam to accentuate elements within the eatery that are unique to the Houston brand while meeting D’Urbano’s design elements to the letter. “They offered everything our client was looking for,” says Stephane Morin, Spectre Sonore’s Director of Operations, who first approached SF Marketing about using LUMI (SFM’s house lighting brand) and Colorbeam for the project in Autumn 2011.
The lighting system incorporates 53 LUMI LEDPAR20-WW-OS light bulbs in the washrooms and entryway, 210 Colorbeam POL-50-B Polaris 50 LED spots recessed in the ceilings and mounted on hanging brackets around the restaurant’s perimeter, and over 700 ft. of LUMI LED-STRIP-60-RGB-24 strip highlighting the bar, dining booths, stairs, and the signature Houston “H” logo stamped into the restaurant’s wall.

Product Spotlight
Litepanels Sola 4 Fresnel LED Lighting Fixture

Litepanels has announced that its Sola 4 Fresnel LED lighting fixture, a small DMX-controllable LED Fresnel, is now shipping.
The new focusable Sola 4 features a 4″ Fresnel lens and uses a small fraction of the power consumed by conventional fixtures. It employs the company’s proprietary LEDs to produce soft light quality in 5,600 degree K daylight colour balance.
In addition, the variable soft-edge control allows control over the way in which the edge of the beam is projected. Operators can choose between a beam that resembles either a PC lens or a Fresnel and adjust the hardness of the edge.

Altinex SR208-100 VGA To VGA Video Scaler

Altinex has released its SR208-100 VGA to VGA video scaler with fixed output resolution. The SR208-100 is designed to upscale (or down-scale) a standard PC video input to any of several PC/HD resolutions. In applications where there are many different input sources such as laptops interfacing with a fixed monitor or projector, the SR208-100 converts these sources to a single output resolution that is optimized for the display device.
The new SR208-100 offers automatic scaling of all input signals. The unit outputs both VGA and HDTV resolutions. Supported resolutions include VGA (640 x 480), SVGA (800 x 600), XGA (1024 x 768), SXGA (1280 x 1024), UXGA (1600 x 1200), WXGA (1280 x 768), WSXGA (1680 x 1050), WUXGA (1920 x 1200), 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p.
In addition to scaling video, the Altinex SR208-100 has built-in setup menus that are accessible using three push buttons on the output side of the chassis. A bypass output is provided for use with a local monitor or other device. The scaler includes a VGA cable, an external power adapter, plus three AC plug adapters.
