I.A.T.S.E. Local 680 Wins Labour Board Decision

On August 6, 2010, IATSE Local 680 filed an application for certification of Power Promotional Events, Inc. with the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board. Power Promotional Events had been the major local promoter of outdoor concerts in the Halifax region, and over the past three years had promoted concerts as diverse as KISS, Keith Urban and the Black Eyed Peas.

Local 680 had supplied crew to all of Power’s events. The local filed the certification for the Country Rocks concert, headlined by Alan Jackson and Johnny Reid. The employer raised a number of legal challenges to the certification, resulting in hearings being held before the Nova Scotia Labour Relations. In its decision, dated May 12, 2011, the Labour Board found in favour of Local 680 on all issues in dispute.

Martin Digital Cyclorama Slams At WrestleMania 27

The 27th annual WrestleMania took place on April 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and featured an immense Martin Professional package of LED video and dynamic lighting gear supplied by Upstaging.

Playing a major role in this year’s set design were Martin Professional LC and EC Series LED video panels, used as digital cycloramas on stage, lining the front of the stage, and along a catwalk leading to the ring in the middle of the Georgia Dome. The sheer number of Martin LED panels involved made it the largest single Martin LED panel event ever.

Graphical processing of the LED screen imagery took place via P3-100 System Controllers. The lighting rig for the event featured nearly 500 Martin MAC moving heads to light the building, the ring, and audience.
