Pro AV Golf Tournament A Swinging Success

Members of the pro AV community came together on September 21 for the 12th annual Pro AV Golf Tournament at the Glen Eagle Golf Club in Caledon, ON. More than 50 golfers played in the best-ball tournament, which raises money for the Friends Of Music Therapy (FOMT) charity organization that provides permanent support of the Music Therapy Program at the Toronto Hospital For Sick Children. Over the years, the tournament has raised over $100,000 dollars.
The day included a shotgun start followed by a barbecue lunch and charity auction. The foursome made up of Bob Snelgrove, Gabor Szepesi, Mark Radu, and Richard VanSteenburgh took top honours of the day with a team score of 6 under par.
Special to this year’s tournament was a chance to win an Aston Martin DBS car, sponsored by Martech and supplied by Grand Touring Autos. Players closest to the pin on the Martech-sponsored hole qualified for a hole-in-one shootout with golfers vying for the luxury coupe.

Global Truss America Issues Statement Regarding Brand Name

In the wake of a competitor issuing claims that it is the authorized distributor of Global Truss products in the United States and Canada, Global Truss America, LLC has issued the following statement:
It has come to Global Truss’s attention that a competitor is attempting to play off Global Truss’s hard-earned name and reputation as the premier entertainment trussing provider in the Americas. This particular competitor has even recently taken to informing customers and dealers that they are now the ‘sole and exclusive’ authorized Global Truss distributor in the United States and Canada.
Global Truss and its design are federally registered trademarks in the United States to Global Truss America, LLC. These federal registrations clearly make Global Truss America the sole and exclusive authorized seller of Global Truss products in the United States.
Global Truss America, LLC is an American DJ company … In December 2010, Global Truss America learned that GLP (German Light Products), and its manager, Mr. Mark Ravenhill, made an arrangement with one of Global Truss America’s factories to purchase unauthorized products for importation into the United States in violation of Global Truss America’s rights and US law. GLP and Mr. Ravenhill have been sued in United States District Court for the Central District of California. Global Truss America no longer does business with that Chinese factory. Global Truss expects to achieve a substantial judgment against those parties at the conclusion of the case.
Customers should also be aware that the truss product being sold by GLP is not authorized by Global Truss. Global Truss America does not warrant those products if they fail and will not accept them for return or replacement.
Global Truss products are exclusively distributed in Canada by Sounds Distribution: 905-428-9062, FAX 905-428-6510, sdinfo@soundsdistribution.com, www.soundsdist.com.

Pyrotek Special Effects & The Throne at the 2011 MTV VMAs

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 28 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and was full of memorable moments including the surprise performance of “Otis” by Kanye West and Jay-Z off their recently-released collaborative album Watch The Throne.
The main theme that came across throughout the piece was power and strength, as the pair was framed by the American flag and an array of effects provided by Pyrotek Special Effects. Pyrotek used six Gatling guns to open the performance, shooting 12-ft. flames in all directions as the rap titans emerged from the top of the stage. The energy of the crowd was undeniable as the duo strutted and strolled down the stage while a shower of 31 silver gerbs rained down behind them.
Pyrotek Special Effects designer Lorenzo Cornacchia collaborated with Gary Lanvy to create a performance that would stand out from the rest. Kevin Hughes, who worked as crew chief and shooter, used silver mines to accent the energy of the song, illuminating the pair from behind. Meanwhile, 12 cryo jets lined the stage and went off in sequence throughout the remainder of the show stopping performance.

City Theatrical SHoW DMX Neo & SHoW DMX SHoW Baby

City Theatrical has introduced its SHoW DMX Neo and SHoW DMX SHoW Baby, the latest innovations in City Theatrical’s 10 years of wireless DMX development and manufacturing.
SHoW DMX Neo features high data fidelity and 7 mS latency. The onboard user interface allows optimized control over output power, full or limited bandwidth broadcast, and the ability to broadcast less than the full DMX packet to shrink the radio “footprint.” SHoW DMX Neo also has Neo Adaptive mode, which will select only open radio channels to broadcast on, with no user intervention needed. SHoW DMX Neo will mend lost data packets and has a Classic mode to allow communication with existing SHoW DMX equipment.
SHoW DMX SHoW Baby takes the same new DMX radio and puts it into a small, inexpensive package. Each box is a Transceiver, and by plugging a DMX cable in, it selects itself to be a transmitter. If nothing is plugged into the DMX in port, it selects itself to be a receiver.
