Time To Prepare For The 2011 PAL Show
Marking its 10-year anniversary, The PAL Show continues to grow as Canada’s leading production technologies trade show. The 2011 edition will feature plenty of new products, training events, and networking opportunities for both attendees and exhibitors.

Running from May 15-16, 2011, PAL will be returning to Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre to share the floor with the MIAC Show after last year’s successful run at Canada’s largest indoor exhibition place. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend free education sessions and seminars presented by industry leaders. As always, PAL provides a great way to keep ahead of the curve with the issues, challenges, and happenings affecting our industry.
Nearly 40 exhibitors from the pro audio, lighting, video, broadcast, and production industries will be on hand showcasing the latest technological products and services. It is a great opportunity for manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and industry professionals to see the latest trends and technology entering the marketplace.
As always, the panel discussions, educational seminars, and technical training courses offered during the two-day event provide attendees with valuable learning opportunities to keep relevant and up-to-date with new advances affecting the industry.
Finally, don’t miss the Canadian Music Trade Late Night Party, happening Sunday, May 15 at 9:30 p.m. at Grace O’Malley’s on Duncan St. mere minutes from the Sheraton. Visit www.canadianmusictrade.com/cmtparty for more details.

Alain Corthout Deploys Vari*Lite On Two Current Tours

LD Alain Corthout has work featured in two current world tours one with Latin music icon Miguel Bosé and another in the Juanes P.A.R.C.E world tour. Each tour has in common the VL3500 Wash luminaire from Philips Vari*Lite.
“I first started working with Bosé in 2005, and this is my first tour with Juanes,” says Corthout. “Personally, I always ask for Vari*Lite fixtures because there are no other lights that have those vivid colours. For these two applications in particular, I needed output, beautiful colour, and speed. For the Miguel Bose tour, we are using 46 VL3500 Washes and for Juanes we have 42 VL3500 Wash luminaires, and they are performing brilliantly. Their speed, brightness, and superior optics make these two shows look even more beautiful.”

Martin DMX 5.3 & RDM 5.5 DMX Splitters

Martin Professional has released two new economical DMX splitters for proper data transmission and protection of DMX controllers and devices. The DMX 5.3 Splitter and RDM 5.5 Splitter are useful in maintaining proper data over long runs or several runs of DMX signal with the RDM 5.5 Splitter also capable of handling RDM data.
The Martin Splitters help to rectify disruptions in the DMX signal caused by bad cables or bad connections by splitting the DMX or DMX/RDM data link into five separate branches while boosting the weak DMX signal to its original output level before it becomes too low to be read by DMX devices.
Through fully individual isolated inputs and five outputs, the Martin Splitters will protect any DMX controller and DMX fixture against voltage surge on the data line. Ground loops are common in complex lighting set-ups and such problems can create errors in the DMX data. The Martin Splitters will help to prevent such situations.
