Roland Systems Group Canada Welcomes Galen Trafford
Roland Systems Group Canada has announced that Galen Trafford has joined the company in the Technical Sales/Customer Support position.
Trafford graduated from Metalworks Institute in 2007 and spent three years working in the A/V staging industry. His focus is on supporting current and potential customers with any questions regarding technical support, and application specific inquiries for Roland Systems Group products. He is also involved in promoting Roland pro audio and video products, which includes appearing at trade shows, personal demonstrations, and Roland Systems Group specific showcases.

Vista Spyder X20 Works Wonders For E! News Set
When E! News, the nightly entertainment newsmagazine on E! Entertainment Television, hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Guiliana Rancic, expanded to one hour and introduced a new set design, the network selected a Vista Spyder X20 video processor to meet its new and extensive graphic needs.
“We used to have a smaller set with fewer video elements, but now the Spyder X20 0808 allows us to do a lot more visually in the new, expanded space,” states Brian Quacquarini, Director of Live Event Operations for Comcast Entertainment Group. “The Spyder X20 is a nice storytelling tool that gives us the ability to change the look of our set without having to change set pieces. It’s also a multi-format device handling both HD and SD. It’s been just great.”

StarTech DS Series Digital Signage Broadcaster & Receiver
StarTech has announced the release of the DS Series Digital Signage Broadcaster (DS128) and Digital Signage Receiver (DSRXL), which can be used to extend high resolution VGA video and stereo audio over Cat-5 Ethernet cable at distances up to 300 m. The broadcaster and receiver also provide centralized operation of connected devices such as A/V receivers and display panels over a serial connection extended to each monitor/equipment location.
Other features of the DS Series Digital Signage Distribution Broadcaster and Receiver include: DSNet Manager Java-based software, allowing Local Area Network users to access each receiver for easy system configuration, image quality adjustment, and turning video on/off; optimum scalability, allowing up to 80 displays to be connected to the same DS128 8-port broadcast unit (using multiple receiver units); support for high definition video resolutions; and a maximum extension distance of 300 m when daisy chaining a maximum of 5 DSRXL receivers.

Vari-Lite VLX3 LED Wash Luminaire
Based on the companys VLX Wash luminaire technology, the VLX3 Wash from Vari-Lite uses three LED engines to offer bright colours and intensity, a multi-year source life, and high reliability. The three replaceable 120-watt RGBW LED chipsets provide output that offers three times the efficacy of comparable tungsten sources and the total system provides approximately 6,000 lumens of white light output.
Additionally, the VLX3 offers a dynamic CRI adjustment, a continuously adjustable colour temperature white range between approximately 3000 and 9000 K, and seamless colour mixing. Beam size control is achieved by the use of an optical zoom system that offers a zoom range from approximately 15-55 degrees with 540 degrees of pan and 240 degrees of tilt control. Accessory mounting points are also included, allowing the attachment of additional, aftermarket beam control devices.
