New Regional Sales Manager At High End Systems

Chris McMeen has joined High End Systems (HES), a Barco company, as Regional Sales Manager for the Eastern US and Canada.
McMeen’s experience as a technology-based sales professional allowed him to become a resource for lighting designers needing lighting and control for tours, television, film, concerts, video, themed entertainment, clubs and installs.
“I have knowledge of all feature sets of HES lighting and control products from over the years, and the quality still stands out today,” says McMeen. “The industry can continue to expect innovation and quality, especially in the new product line coming up. Richard Belliveau continues to create lighting that creates effects unlike any other. As we move forward, HES will be a tough competitor. I’m excited about the future here.”
McMeen is based in the New York area, and can be reached by e-mail at chris_mcmeen@highend.com or by phone at 646-599-7304.

Jands Vista v2 Puts Focus On World Wildlife Fund Campaign Launch

A Jands Vista I3 console, running Vista v2 software, was specified by installation artist and lighting designer Fred Pommerehn to control the lighting for a specially-commissioned work on display as part of the World Wildlife Fund’s “Deutschland wird Wald Meister 2011″ (Year of the Forest) campaign in Berlin, Germany.
For the WWF event, Berlin-based Lichtblick Bühnentechnik supplied all the technical production, and also constructed the trees, project managed by Frederik Wehlmann. Pommerehn has worked with the Lichtblick Bühnentechnik GmbH for several years and always specifies Jands Vista to control any lighting on his projects. He explains that there are many reasons for this, including the flexibility of the system and the speed at which he can achieve his aims, as he is often working on projects where the timeframe is a significant factor. This was the first event on which Lichtblick Bühnentechnik had used the I3 running on the Vista v2 software.
“Using the Jands Vista allowed us to work very fast,” says Pommerehn, “especially running with Vista v2. It really takes the complexity out of the process, and allows you to concentrate on getting creative visual results fast.”

GefenTV 4×1 HD Switcher With Audio Decoding

Gefen has announced the availability of its new GefenTV 4 x 1 HD Switcher with audio decoding, which combines source switching and audio processing in one.
This audio/video processor can integrate four hi-def sources using HDMI and decode audio to create 5.1 surround sound audio. Alternatively, it can also process audio sources using digital and analog audio inputs as 5.1 surround sound. When one of the four HDMI sources is selected, video is delivered as 1080p with 3DTV pass-through. Multi-channel audio from the same HDMI source is delivered as 5.1 surround sound through RCA connectors using Dolby Digital technology.
If the optical, coax, or L/R analog audio input is selected, audio is delivered as 5.1 surround sound through the RCA connectors using Dolby Pro Logic II technology. CD players, MP3 players, laptops, and iPods can all be connected through the digital and analog audio ports. A mini LCD on the front panel gives status information. Front panel buttons offer access to the on-screen display menu, volume, and power control. An IR remote and RS-232 port offer additional methods of control.
