Project Update

Martin M1 Joins Elite Company At XS Nightclub

XS Nightclub at Wynn Casino and Resort in Las Vegas has upgraded its lighting control system with Martin’s new M1 lighting desk. The console caters to operator Josh Packard and his style of operation, says Wynn Lighting Programmer and Lead Lighting Technician Brian Gysegem.

“It was obvious that he needed more playbacks at his fingertips and the M1 became the obvious choice. The board was ultimately chosen for its small footprint and abundance of playbacks on the control surface. Josh is equally adept at creating and mixing music as he is operating and programming lights; his timing shines because of it.”

The M1 replaces an existing Martin Maxxyz Compact lighting desk that will subsequently be transferred to Tryst Nightclub at Wynn Resorts.

Philips WideLite TAG Architectural LED Floodlights

Philips WideLite has unveiled a new family of indoor and outdoor RGB LED floodlights with four levels of dynamic colour-mixing control.

TAG’s Color-Tune allows the user to control everything directly at the fixture. Power up a TAG luminaire for the first time and 16 million color possibilities are available. Push the Color-Tune button to lock the desired colour in place, or continue pushing to cycle through 12 preset colour choices around the colour wheel, including white. No secondary DMX control systems are required.

TAG offers two levels of push-button Color-Tune technology that are plug-and-play ready, allowing for dynamic, simple, and affordable color control. Level-1 Color-Tune control allows the user to control each RGB luminaire independently at each fixture location. Level-2 Color-Tune control allows the user to control a string of multiple fixtures from a single ‘Master’ fixture location by simply daisy-chaining TAG’s DMX control wires. Two additional levels of control are available for users wanting DMX compatibility.

American DJ Hyper Gem LED

American DJ has introduced its new Hyper Gem LED, featuring 256 red, green, blue, and white LEDs shooting out beams through four lenses.

A 4-way DMX-controllable portable moonflower, the Hyper Gem LED can offer a wide sweep of LED patterns that gyrate and groove to the beat of the music. Featuring four separate lenses and a 24-degree high and 94-degree wide beam angle, its beams will completely cover the dance floor at a mid-sized venue, making it suitable for any DJ, entertainer, or club wanting to cover a large area. It will also project on walls and ceilings and includes a multi-colour Strobe Effect.

The unit uses long-life 100,000-hour-rated LEDs as its light source and has no moving parts. The Hyper Gem LED is also easy to operate, even for users with very little lighting experience.
