Ministry Identifies Companies Involved In Fatal Radiohead Stage Collapse

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

Last Saturday, a temporary stage at Toronto’s Downsview Park collapsed just
hours before a sold-out performance by U.K. rock band Radiohead was set to begin.

The mass-failure resulted in the death of 33-year-old drum technician Scott Johnson who was crushed by the falling stage. Since then, the Ministry of Labour (MOL) has begun a complete investigation into determining the factors that caused the tragic event

So far, the MOL has identified four companies; concert promoter Live Nation, Nasco Staffing Solutions, Optex Staging and Servicing Inc., and UK-based Ticker Tape Touring LPP, as being part of the ministry’s ongoing investigation.

The collapsed stage remains onsite as investigators and engineers try to unravel what happened on the clear and calm sunny day. So far no company involved has yet made a statement or spoken to media.

PL&P will continue to monitor the situation.
