Cosmic Truss has announced the appointment of Paul Saghbazarian as its new Sales Manager, who will be working directly with Cosmic Truss Brand Director, David Park.
Saghbazarian comes to Cosmic Truss from areas outside of the industry, but with a knowledge and understanding of the entertainment industry from earlier experience, according to the company. He will begin immediately working with existing customers, strengthening the level of support and service that Cosmic Truss offers. As the brand grows, Saghbazarian will be a key link in expanding the Cosmic Truss Sales channels in areas where the company sees potential to expand.
Commenting on the appointment, Brand Director David Park says, “Paul will be a welcome addition to the team and give us some great additional resources to offer our customers.”

SGM has announced the appointment of David Keighley as its new executive vice president. Keighley has worked as a lighting designer, tour manager, and production manager as well as management experience as executive vice president and chief of operations for Syncrolite, managing director and CEO of PRG Europe, and managing director of light and sound design. Keighley has been involved with the Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2012) and worked with artists such as Madonna, Rolling Stones, Spice Girls, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple etc.
Keighley’s primary area of responsibility as EVP will be to work with and support designers and architects to ensure the right equipment for the job. He will be based in the U.K., but will be travelling to oversee global activities for SGM.

SFM has announced that Jean-Michel Berezoutzky has joined the company as the coordinator of the TAG group. SFM’s AV Technical Application Group (TAG) acts as a direct link to customers and provides training, technical support, and design assistance for installations and concepts involving SFM’s products. The TAG group is present at all levels of the sale and acts as a resource for industry professionals such as integrators, consultants, production/rental companies, and engineers.

Hubbell Lighting has named John DiNardi as its general manager and vice president of the Hubbell Lighting Components Business. He currently heads Hubbell Lighting’s Technology and Business Development program. This move connects the solid state lighting components brands with Hubbell’s advanced technology, product and business development group, the company says.

Barco has acquired Vancouver, BC-based MTT Innovation Inc. MTT is a developer of next-generation projection technology with expertise in high dynamic range, applied imaging algorithms, advanced colour science, and specialized hardware development.
“With this investment, we are augmenting our expertise in the field of High Dynamic Range technology. This underpins our long-term leadership in projection technology,” says Eric Van Zele, President and CEO at Barco. “MTT’s technology is still in a research phase and will need further de-risking and development over the years to come. In February, ETC expanded its research efforts, creating the Advance Research Group (ARG) to uncover new technologies and boost current product capabilities. Now, ETC has hired Wendy Luedtke to join the ARG as a product technology specialist. She will work closely with lighting professionals to identify their most important issues, helping the ARG develop technology that tackles their problems and opens new possibilities.

Christie’s Advanced Technology Group, in association with DifTek Lasers Inc., researchers at the University of Waterloo, and Conestoga College, is investigating how to merge the high brightness of LEDs with the cost effectiveness and fill-factor of LCDs into an OLED display.
Working with Christie’s Advanced Technology Group, DifTek Lasers patented the technology and manufacturing process, and the group is working with Conestoga College’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing to begin scaling up the size of the backplanes that are manufactured. Although this technology is still in the experimentation phase, the goal of this patented technology is to apply it to the manufacture of large displays.

Solotech’s Mike Poirier
Solotech has announced that Mike Poirier has joined its Integration Division as Business Development Director for the broadcast market. Poirier will work within Solotech’s broadcast sales team.
Poirier joins the company with more than three decades of experience in the broadcast, AV, and post-production industries. “Mike has extensive experience in selling system solutions in both Canada and the US,” says Danny Berthelet, executive VP of Solotech’s Integration Division. “With his rich blend of technical expertise and his know-how in marketing and sales, he will be a valuable asset as Solotech steps up its efforts in the broadcast markets”.
