The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and Timeless Communications Corp. (TCC), publisher of Projection Lights & Staging News (PLSN), Front of House (FOH), and Stage Directions have formed an alliance to serve the live event production community at The 2018 NAMM Show, the organization’s annual tradeshow in Anaheim, CA. As part of the agreement, TCC will bring its premier award show for the live production community, The Parnelli Awards to The NAMM Show creating a one-stop event for industry pros.
ETC and High End Systems announced today they are joining forces as ETC completes the acquisition of the Austin, TX-based company from Barco Inc.
“We welcome the High End team to the ETC family. ETC will provide a strong support structure for High End to continue to innovate and make great products for the industry,” says ETC CEO Fred Foster.
CITT/ICTS is preparing to welcome more than 60 exhibitors and over 1,200 visitors to Montreal for the third annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference, which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from April 12-13, 2017. Expo-Scène is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio, lighting, audiovisual, video, and multimedia technology markets.
The NAB Show will be returning to Las Vegas from April 22-27, 2017. It is the world’s largest electronic media show covering the creation, management, and delivery of content across all platforms. The theme for this year’s show is The M.E.T. Effect, meaning the intersection of media, entertainment, and technology, fueled by internet connectivity and integrated systems.
This year, the specialized exhibit areas include the Post-Production Campus, Virtual and Augmented Reality Pavilion, and the Futures Park, which features demonstrations of high-tech media developments in progress, prototypes, and products not yet available for sale from research laboratories in the United States and around the world.

Chauvet & Sons LLC has announced that it completed the acquisition of ChamSys Ltd., the Southampton, U.K.-based designer and manufacturer of lighting controllers. ChamSys provides Chauvet a stronger presence in the controller market that complements its Chauvet Professional lighting fixtures and LED video panels, according to the company.

Metalworks Institute has introduced three new undergraduate programs: Event Planning & Management, Live Sound, and Stage Lighting & Video. Another addition is the college’s first post-graduate program – Music Mixing & Mastering.

InfoComm International has named Heidi A. Voorhees, MBA, CAE, as the organization’s new Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Voorhees will lead InfoComm’s North American operations and global marketing and communication efforts.
With 20 years of trade association and private business experience, Voorhees brings to InfoComm significant expertise in operations management and strategic planning. She spent nearly 10 years at SmithBucklin, the world’s largest association management company, where she oversaw meetings, conventions, trade shows, and executive events for anywhere from 10 to 20,000 participants. Voorhees also has experience in association marketing and trade show management from her time as VP of strategic initiatives at the Institute of Food Technologists and Sr. VP at Experient, a leading global event company.
USITT and ESTA have announced INNOVA, a platform to provide online learning to professionals in entertainment technology and design. INNOVA, launching in April 2017, will offer on-demand training in a wide variety of disciplines and levels and will include renewal credit courses for the Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) and American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The Resident Shows Division of Cirque du Soleil has received the USITT Award at USITT 2017, which is the institute’s highest honour.
The award recognizes a lifetime contribution to the performing arts and entertainment communities. It was presented at the 2017 Annual Conference & Stage Expo on March 8 in St. Louis, MO.
