Chauvet Completes Purchase of ChamSys

Chauvet & Sons LLC has announced that it completed the acquisition of ChamSys Ltd., the Southampton, U.K.-based designer and manufacturer of lighting controllers. ChamSys provides Chauvet a stronger presence in the controller market that complements its Chauvet Professional lighting fixtures and LED video panels, according to the company.

Metalworks Institute Introduces Four New Programs for Next School Year

Metalworks Institute has introduced three new undergraduate programs: Event Planning & Management, Live Sound, and Stage Lighting & Video. Another addition is the college’s first post-graduate program – Music Mixing & Mastering.

“We’re most excited about launching the Music Mixing & Mastering Program because it’s the first of its kind,” says Craig Titus, Metalworks’ Director of Academics. “We’re the only school to offer this type of specialization and it represents another significant way that we can pass on the knowledge and experience from the studio’s success to the next generation of audio engineers.”

InfoComm International has named Heidi A. Voorhees, MBA, CAE, as the organization’s new Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Voorhees will lead InfoComm’s North American operations and global marketing and communication efforts.

With 20 years of trade association and private business experience, Voorhees brings to InfoComm significant expertise in operations management and strategic planning. She spent nearly 10 years at SmithBucklin, the world’s largest association management company, where she oversaw meetings, conventions, trade shows, and executive events for anywhere from 10 to 20,000 participants. Voorhees also has experience in association marketing and trade show management from her time as VP of strategic initiatives at the Institute of Food Technologists and Sr. VP at Experient, a leading global event company.

USITT & ESTA Launch INNOVA for Online Learning

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is seeking proposals for technical papers for the SMPTE 2017 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition (SMPTE 2017), which will be held from Oct. 23-26, 2017, in Hollywood, CA. Proposed papers must be informational and address technical theory, research, innovations, applications, or practices specific to an evolving technology relevant to the media industry. Abstracts must be submitted online no later than May 15, 2017.\

Prolight + Sound 2017 to Offer Extensive Education Program

From April 4-7, 2017, Prolight + Sound will offer an extensive program of lectures covering all facets of the event industry. Aimed at both newcomers to the sector and experts, the lectures will be held in the Forum building, close to the City Entrance of the Exhibition Centre in Franfurt, Germany.

As in previous years, the program is split into three parts, the Prolight + Sound Conference, the Manufacturers’ Forum and the Eventplaza Conference. Numerous lectures will be given in English and are aimed at an international audience.
