LDInnovation & Technology Conference Details Released

14 LDILDI Show 2015 organizers have released some details for the upcoming LDInnovation & Technology Conference, which features three days of sessions on the issues important to the lighting, production, and staging industry. The 2015 LDI Show will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Oct. 19-25. The conference portion will be held from Oct. 19th to 25th and the exhibition portion will run from the 23rd to 25th.

AMX Canada & Techni+Contact Product Conferences Announced for Montreal

On Sept. 1st and 2nd, AMX Canada and Techni+Contact we will be launching the second leg of their cross-Canada product conferences near Montreal to showcase all their commercial lines.

These events will entail an intense half-day of workshops from manufacturers, table top presentations, and demos. Snacks, refreshments, and lunch will be provided as well as door prizes and giveaways.

There will be four identical sessions over two days. Seats are limited so those interested are encourage to register soon, say the companies.

SMPTE 2015 Registration Now Open With Early Bird Pricing

SMPTEThe Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has opened registration for the SMPTE 2015 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition (SMPTE 2015), with early bird rates available through Aug. 15, 2015. The event, which takes place Oct. 27-29 in Hollywood, CA is billed as a premier forum for the exploration of media and entertainment technology. The signature SMPTE event will be preceded on Oct. 26 by the daylong SMPTE 2015 Symposium, which will focus on virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR).

Westbury to Host ‘Imagine’ Technology Showcase in Toronto

Westbury National will be hosting its first Imagine Technology Showcase at the Carlu event space in College Park in Toronto on April 28, 2015 from 2-7 p.m. Westbury describes Imagine as an “opportunity to see, touch, and interact with the latest innovations in audio, audiovisual, and lighting technology, and network with professionals from the pro audio, audiovisual and event industries.”

Over 30 exhibitors have been confirmed so far, including Christie Digital, AMX, Panasonic, Creston, Meyer Sound, and Avolites. The event will feature technology exhibits, as well as demonstrations, seminars, and speakers. Admission is free.

Terrence Spivey Calls for More Diversity in Theatre Tech in USITT Keynote

USITT Terrence SpiveyTerrence Spivey, artistic director of Cleveland’s Karamu House, urged all technical theatre practitioners to recruit and mentor more students of colour in his Keynote address at USITT 2015 in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Spivey opened USITT’s 55th Annual Conference & Stage Expo at the Duke Energy Convention Center with a speech reflecting on the history of black theatre in the U.S. and Karamu House’s success as the nation’s oldest black theatre.
