The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) announced that Wendall K. Harrington, the “godmother of modern projection design” and head of the MFA program in Projection Design at the Yale School of Drama, will be delivering the keynote speech at the USITT 2018 Conference & Stage Expo.
The first day of February Freeze featured a format that regular attendees would be familiar with, with the exhibition hosting around 50 vendors from the film and TV technology sector, covering audio, video, lighting, and more. The exhibitors, of course, included the various WFW divisions, such as Whites Live Events, Whites Camera, White Specialty Equipment, Whites LES, and Whites Interactive. As well, other exhibiting companies included Arri, Canon, Chimera Lighting, Sennheiser, Camadeus Film Technologies, Moss LED, Matthews Studio Equipment, Osram, Panasonic, and many more.
From April 10-13, 2018, Prolight + Sound will offer an extensive program of lectures covering all facets of the event industry. Aimed at both newcomers to the sector and experts, the lectures will be held in the Forum building of the Exhibition Centre in Franfurt, Germany.
As in previous years, the program is split into three parts: the Prolight + Sound Conference; the Manufacturers’ Forum; and the Eventplaza Conference. Numerous lectures will be given in English and are aimed at an international audience.
The all-new Smart Cities Forum and an evolved Light & Health Forum will advance leading-edge thought leadership across the spectrum of lighting and technology at the 2018 Lightfair Conference in Chicago at McCormick Place from May 6-10, 2018 (pre-conference Lightfair Institute runs May 6-7 and the trade show and conference runs from May 8-10).
Both Forums take place on Wednesday, May 9th, and they each offer six sessions of knowledge revolving around these dynamic topics. Forum sessions are available as a package or à la carte. They are a part of the full Lightfair Conference program that offers 72 courses for 2018 ranging from 60 minutes to two days in length.
CITT/ICTS is preparing to welcome the Canadian entertainment industry to Montreal for the fourth annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference, which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from March 28-29, 2018. Expo-Scène is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio, sound, lighting, audiovisual, video, and multimedia technology markets.
Encompassing what organizers call The M.E.T. Effect, the convergence of media, entertainment and technology, over 103,000 attendees are expected from 160 countries and 1,800-plus exhibitors.
A resident of Las Vegas for over 34 years, Grant has worked with developing companies in both sales and managerial roles. He will play a key role in developing Solotech’s integrations department, by bringing his 28 years of sales experience to Solotech’s growing U.S. team. In recent years, his experience in the audiovisual industry has focused on developing client relationships in the hospitality, corporate, house of worship, and healthcare markets.

Andrew Hope, managing director of AVL Media Group, has announced the appointment of Victoria Parker as an AVL sales representative in Ontario.

LightFair International (LFI), the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, will return to Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center in 2019 for its 30th annual staging from May 19-23, according to Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., chairman, CEO and president of LFI managing partner AmericasMart Atlanta.
Produced annually, LFI was last held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in 2017. LFI’s 2019 return to Philadelphia will follow its 2018 showing in Chicago at McCormick Place from May 6-10.
